Silicon Metal Total Purity

PRICE

Silicon is a chemical element belonging to group 14 of the Periodic Table. It is an element considered a semimetal, as it combines properties of both metals and nonmetals, although some periodic tables classify it as a nonmetal. It stands out for its semiconductivity and its oxidation state equal to +4 when it forms compounds.

It is the second most abundant element in the Earth's crust, behind only oxygen. It can be obtained mainly by reducing quartz (SiO2) with carbon at high temperatures, but for the manufacture of electronic devices, it needs to be purer. Silicon can be applied in different areas of industry, mainly in the field of electronics, in addition to being the main constituent of glass, ceramics, cement and also silicone.
